Bell has announced the expansion of its wireless broadband internet in Ontario, now reaching Muskoka and Haliburton County, home to ‘cottage country’.
The company says eligible homes in Bracebridge, Dorset, Gravenhurst, Port Sandfield and Windermere can now subscribe to the wireless internet service, which is delivered over the Bell advanced LTE network in the 3500 MHz spectrum band.
Other communities are expected to also gain access to this wireless broadband internet, including: Bala, Baysville, Brackenrig, Carnarvon, Dwight, Honey Harbour, Huntsville, Milford Bay and Minden.
“We’re pleased to extend Bell’s innovative Wireless Home Internet service to year-round and seasonal residents alike in Ontario’s cottage country, part of our extensive campaign to bring broadband Internet access to smaller towns and rural communities,” said Rizwan Jamal, President of Bell Residential and Small Business, in a press release.
Installation of wireless home internet requires Bell technicians to place a small antenna outside a customer’s residence, which connects to the company’s LTE network. The service can be bundled with Bell Satellite TV.
Current promo pricing starts at $59.95 per month for 6 months (then $79.95/mo), for a wireless internet plan with up to 25 Mbps download speeds and up to 1 Mbps upload, to go with 350GB of monthly data usage. Internet comes with a Home Hub 2000 modem and wireless router.
According to Bell, their Wireless Home Internet service is “is expected to reach more than 200,000 additional households in 138 centres this year, eventually extending to 1.2 million households across 7 provinces.” Currently, the service is in over 60 areas in Ontario and Quebec.
