Bell Named Canada’s Fastest 5G+ Network. Here’s What That Means for Customers.

Bell Ranked Canada’s Fastest 5G+ Network 

Rohde & Schwarz SwissQual AG, an independent Swiss network testing firm, has ranked Bell 5G+ as Canada’s fastest 5G+ network based on extensive network testing conducted across the country. 

Bell ranked first in both the Fastest 5G+ Network Data Speed Performance Score and Fastest 5G Network Data Speed Score categories. The testing was conducted across 19 Canadian communities using drive-test methodology, which measures real-world network performance under controlled conditions. 

The recognition builds on Bell’s recent Ookla awards, reinforcing Bell’s position as a leader in wireless performance across both real-world consumer testing and independent network benchmarking. 

Why Network Speed Matters 

While industry awards are noteworthy, the real value for customers comes from how network performance enhances everyday experiences. 

Faster network speeds can help improve activities such as uploading photos and videos to the cloud, streaming high-quality content, joining video calls and using cloud-based applications while on the go. 

Network performance also becomes particularly important in high-traffic environments. Whether attending a major sporting event, commuting during peak hours or travelling through busy city centres, customers benefit from a network that can continue delivering strong performance when demand is high. 

Just as importantly, reliable connectivity helps ensure customers can stay productive, informed and connected when they need it most. 

Built to Perform During Major Events 

Bell’s network recently demonstrated its reliability and capacity during several of Canada’s largest sporting events, including the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, the Montréal Canadiens’ playoff run and FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches in Toronto and Vancouver. 

During the tournament, wireless data traffic exceeded 250 TB across the 13 matches hosted in Toronto and Vancouver. When official fan festivals and municipal fan zones were included, total wireless traffic reached approximately 330 TB, reflecting the enormous demand created when thousands of fans were sharing photos, posting videos, checking scores, and staying connected in real time. 

To help support this level of demand, Bell invested more than $25 million in network enhancements across Toronto and Vancouver, nearly tripled network capacity at Toronto Stadium and upgraded more than 45 network sites. The tournament also showcased advanced 5G+ capabilities, including network slicing trials for broadcast and public safety applications, while a dedicated command centre helped proactively monitor network performance. The infrastructure improvements continue to benefit customers long after the event, supporting connectivity at major gatherings across the country, including recent festivals such as Osheaga and the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. 

A Long-Term Investment in Connectivity 

Bell’s network leadership reflects years of ongoing investment in wireless and broadband infrastructure. 

Since 2020, Bell has invested nearly $24 billion across its wireless and Pure Fibre networks. Hundreds of wireless sites were upgraded from 4G to 5G during 2026 alone, with additional upgrades planned. 

Bell’s wireless network reaches more than 99% of Canadians, while approximately 92% of the population has access to 5G and 70% to 5G+.  

These investments help deliver the speed, reliability and coverage customers depend on every day. 

Building for the Future with 5G+ Advanced 

Bell continues to evolve its network through the deployment of 5G+ Advanced technology. 

Bell 5G+ delivers download speeds of up to 2 Gbps, while Bell’s 5G+ Advanced network is designed to achieve peak theoretical download speeds of up to 4.3 Gbps through the use of 3800 MHz spectrum and a standalone 5G core. 

Bell is also the first provider in Canada to deploy 5-carrier aggregation (5CC) on 3800 MHz spectrum. Available on the latest Samsung Galaxy, Apple iPhone and Google Pixel devices, 5CC helps deliver enhanced 5G+ performance, with Bell remaining the only carrier currently offering the technology at scale. These investments are designed to support the next generation of connected experiences, including cloud gaming, AI-powered applications, immersive video experiences and emerging communication technologies. 

Delivering a Better Everyday Experience 

Bell’s focus extends beyond delivering fast network speeds. The company continues to invest in technologies designed to improve everyday wireless experiences, including their recently enhanced AI-powered Suspicious Call Detection feature, which helps identify, block and label the majority of spoofed calls in Canada.
