Wildly Popular Battle Royale Game Apex Legends Coming to Mobile, Says EA

One of the most popular games of 2019 is seemingly destined to make its way to mobile devices.

During EA’s quarterly earnings call today, CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that the company has plans to bring the wildly-popular battle royale style game Apex Legends to mobile devices.

“We are in advanced negotiations to bring Apex Legends to China and to mobile, and we will update you on time frames when those negotiations are concluded,” said Jorgenson.

“We’re now very focused on delivering for this massive global community with a long-term live service, including new seasons with more robust Battle Pass content, new legends, and exciting evolutions to the in-game environment,” added EA CEO, Andrew Wilson.

No details were provided within the earnings call as to when Apex Legends would come to mobile devices.



A battle royale game going mobile seems like a logical outcome given the success of both Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in the past, so it shouldn’t be too surprising to see that Apex Legends will do the same. There’s always the question of how the game will change between versions among others, but those details should be revealed later.

During the call, EA also reported that Apex Legends has over 50 million users, the same number they reported in March, suggesting a slowdown in growth. However, 30 percent of the game’s users are new to the EA ecosystem, and the company has said Respawn has learned lessons from the game’s rocky launch.
