Telus has announced it is investing $150 million to bring fibre optic to Prince George, B.C., along with upgrades to wireline and wireless.
The company says they will “connect more than 90 per cent of homes and businesses in Prince George including the North Side of Lheidli T’enneh First Nation’s Fort George 2,” with construction already underway for the PureFibre network. Telus says the majority of homes and businesses should be connected by early 2022.
“TELUS is very proud to be making this generational investment in Prince George, providing the technology to bridge geographic and socio-economic divides and connect citizens to the people, resources and information that make their lives better,” said Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS, in an issued statement.
Telus says it has invested over $350 million in Northern B.C. since 2013, “one of the most connected regions in Canada.”
Earlier this week, Telus announced its Internet and Mobility for Good programs expanded to B.C., Manitoba and New Brunswick. The program offers low-income families high-speed internet for $9.95 per month.
