Apple Expands Authorized Repairs to All U.S. Best Buy Stores

Apple announced today that it has partnered with Best Buy to offer repairs for the iPhone and other Apple products for U.S.-based customers.

A new press release from the Cupertino company explains that almost 1,000 Best Buy stores can now carry out Apple-certified repairs thanks to 7,600 “newly Apple-certified technicians.”

In total, Apple now counts 1,800 third-party authorized service locations spread across the United States, making Best Buy Apple’s biggest repair partner. Add to that Apple’s own 270 stores also carrying out repairs and the company now has over 2,000 locations offering the service.

“At Apple, we’re dedicated to providing the best customer service in the world,” said Tara Bunch, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare. “If a customer ever needs to repair their products, we want them to feel confident those repairs are done safely and correctly. We’re always looking at how we can reliably expand our network of trained technicians and we’re excited to partner with every Best Buy store so it’s even easier for our customers to find an authorized repair location near them.”

Apple notes that repairs will now be more accessible in locations such as Yuma, Arizona; Sioux City, Iowa; Twin Falls, Idaho; Casper, Wyoming; and Bismarck, North Dakota — areas where the nearest Apple retail store is a significant drive away. Best Buy’s plentiful repair locations mean that four-fifths of Apple customers will now be within 20 minutes of an authorized service provider.

“We love being there for our customers no matter what their Apple need is, from helping them choose the right device, to offering AppleCare protection and now helping fix their devices,” said Best Buy’s Trish Walker, president of Services. “We’ve always enjoyed a great partnership with Apple and we’re thrilled that, together, we can better serve our customers.”

By running a network of authorized service providers, Apple can ensure only original parts are being used and reassure customers they are receiving a repair to Apple’s high standards. However, it does also allow the company to set the pricing of such repairs as high as it wants and demand parts are sourced through the company and its partners.

Offering Apple device repairs at so many locations is good news for Best Buy as it should help keep footfall high in its stores, which in turn could lead to more sales.
