Health Canada Says Contact Apple for Apple Watch ECG App Release Date

Back in May, we told you Heath Canada had approved two applications for Apple Watch and the latter’s ECG app and other heart health features.

Apple confirmed the applications were approved and said a launch would be coming “as quickly as possible.”

Health Canada’s Twitter account has been providing the odd updates here and there, and yesterday sent out another tweet about Apple Watch Series 4 and the ECG app.

When asked about Apple Watch and the ECG app, the federal organization replied to an ongoing Twitter thread and Canadian man, @realgaryng, by saying “Health Canada has recently approved two licences for the Apple Watch ECG app and notifications. For more information on product release dates in Canada, please contact the manufacturer directly.”

Those looking for an ECG app launch timeline for Apple Watch Series 4 are being told to contact Apple directly, says Health Canada.

While we didn’t hear anything at WWDC about the ECG app for Apple Watch Series 4 users in Canada, many suspect the next major expansion will happen at this fall’s September iPhone event and also with the release of watchOS 6, currently in beta.

Apple.ca currently sells the Apple Watch Series 4 starting at $519 CAD.
