
Apple Says 59 New Emojis Coming in iOS 13 This Fall, Shares Preview [PICS]
Ahead of World Emoji Day on Wednesday, July 17, Apple has announced a preview of new emojis coming to iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and macOS this fall.
Apple says “powerful updates to emoji encourage more inclusion and diversity.”
Some of the new emoji include:
- Banjo
- Parachute
- Kite
- Yo-yo
- Yawning face
- Sloth
- Flamingo
- Skunk
- Orangutan
- Waffle
- Falafel
- Butter
- Garlic
- Guide dog
- Ear with hearing aid
- Wheelchairs
- Prosthetic arm
- Prosthetic leg
- Holding Hands (75+ possible combinations)
- One-piece swimsuit
“Celebrating diversity in all its many forms is integral to Apple’s values and these new options help fill a significant gap in the emoji keyboard,” explained Apple in a press release.
The Holding Hands emoji will see a “major update”, now able to select from any combination of skin tone, plus gender, in which Apple says will offer over 75 combinations.
These new emoji “are created based on the approved characters in Unicode 12.0.”
Apple says 59 total new emoji designs will be available for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch this fall, when iOS 13, iPadOS 13, watchOS 6 and macOS Catalina make their public debut.
