YouTube Kids Launches on Web This Week with New Content Filters

As pointed out by the folks over at Android Police, YouTube Kids has just received a new content filter for Preschoolers (4 and below) ahead of its web launch later this week. Previously, YouTube Kids had content filters for Younger (ages 5-7) and Older (ages 8-12) kids only.

According to YouTube’s support page, when users select one of the three filters, they’ll see a preview of the type of content that is associated with it so they can make a better-informed decision. The new Preschool content setting allows kids to watch videos that promote creativity, playfulness, learning, and exploration.

Users can also customize the content they see in the YouTube Kids app by signing in and blocking videos or channels they don’t want their child to watch.

Preschool Content Setting

Our systems work hard to exclude content not suitable for kids in preschool, but not all videos have been manually reviewed. If you find something inappropriate that we missed, you can block it or flag it for fast review.  Search in this setting is limited to the YouTube Kids videos included in the Preschool content setting.

Regarding the web launch for YouTube Kids, there is no word on the exact date when it goes live although YouTube says it is coming “later this week.” We’ll let you know as soon as it is launch. Stay tuned!
