Apple’s suppliers might be getting ready to put the next generation of AirPods into production as soon as October.
That’s according to a new report from Digitimes (via MacRumors) which explains that Apple’s various suppliers are working to start assembling the new AirPods as soon as October. DigiTimes shared a brief preview of its story today:
Assembling for new-gen AirPods to kick off as early as October
Apple’s suppliers are gearing up for assembling for the next-generation AirPods as early as October, according to industry sources.
Earlier this year, famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities said that two different AirPods models would be ready for mass production between the fourth quarter of 2019 and the first of 2020. One of these models will likely be an updated version of the AirPods that went on sale in March, while the other is believed to be a much bigger update.
This second pair of AirPods is expected to cost more than the standard AirPods we’ve become accustomed to, as well as feature an updated design, active noise cancellation, and a certain degree of water resistance, says Kuo. With that in mind, it’s likely that the AirPods DigiTimes mentioned are a slight refresh of the current model.
