Apple Canada: Get iPhone 11 for $589, iPhone 11 Pro for $889 After Trade-In

Apple says its Canadian customers can get an iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro for a reduced price after trading in their old iPhones.

The fine print of Apple’s press release for iPhone 11 reads, “Customers can also get iPhone 11 for $589 (CAD) with trade-in from, in the Apple Store app and Apple Stores.”

The footnote says the $589 price is possible through the trade-in of an “iPhone 8 Plus in good condition.”

As for iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, Apple says, “Customers can also get iPhone 11 Pro for $889 (CAD) with trade-in and iPhone 11 Pro Max for $1,029 (CAD) with trade-in from, in the Apple Store app and Apple Stores.”

These lower prices were obtained by trading in an “iPhone X in good condition.”

Looking at Apple’s website, trade-in values vary, from $80 for an iPhone 6S, all the way up to $700 for an iPhone XS Max. An iPhone 8 Plus is worth $390 and iPhone X is worth $490 on Apple’s chart below, which is for a device in “good condition”:

“Trade in your eligible device for an Apple Store Gift Card. If it’s not eligible for credit, we’ll recycle it for free. No matter the model or condition, we can turn it into something good for you and good for the planet,” explains Apple’s website.

Now, if you really don’t care about the value of your iPhone and can’t be bothered to sell your old device on used classifieds, these trade-in programs are calling your name. But for the most part, selling yourself via eBay, Craigslist and Kijiji will garner much higher values for older iPhones, but it will take some work dealing with tire kickers.

Will you be using Apple Trade In to lower the price of your new iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro?
