Apple Shares New Guidelines for ‘Sign in with Apple’ with Developers

Earlier this year at WWDC, Apple unveiled a ‘Sign in with Apple’ button for Apple device users to create new logins on websites and apps as a new measure to strengthen user privacy protection. The feature basically allows users to easily sign in to apps and websites using their existing Apple ID, similar to signing in with Facebook or Google.

With iOS 13’s public release just around the corner, Apple has now shared updated guidelines for ‘Sign in with Apple’ with the developers, highlighting how the new privacy feature offers a great way to help users set up an account, sign in, and engage with their app quickly and easily.

Apple also reiterates that all accounts are protected with two-factor authentication for superior security and that Apple will not track users’ activity in any app or website:

We’ve updated the App Store Review Guidelines to provide criteria for when apps are required to use Sign in with Apple. Starting today, new apps submitted to the App Store must follow these guidelines. Existing apps and app updates must follow them by April 2020. We’ve also provided new guidelines for using Sign in with Apple on the web and other platforms.
