Amazon Canada Launches Fire Kids Edition Tablets with FreeTime Unlimited, New Fire HD 10

Amazon has announced new products in services in Canada this morning, debuting new Fire Kids Edition tablets, its Amazon FreeTime Unlimited service and also an all-new Fire HD 10 tablet.

Fire Kids Edition Tablets

The Fire Kids Edition tablets have made its way to Canada, with the Fire 7 Kids Edition and Fire HD 8 Kids Edition and new Fire HD 10 Kids Edition now available.

They all come with one year free of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, a kid-proof case and also a two-year worry-free warranty. The warranty says if you break the tablet, just return it and Amazon will replace it, no questions asked.

The Fire 7 Kids Edition has a 7-inch IPS display, powered by a quad-core processor, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot for expandable storage and also 7 hours of battery life, available for $129.99.

The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition has a 8-inch HD display with 1280 x 800 resolution, a quad-core processor, 32GB of storage, a microSD slot for expandable storage and up to 10 hours of battery life. Available for $169.99.

The all-new Fire HD 10 Kids Edition has a 10.1-inch 1080p full HD display, octa-core 2.0 GHz processor, 32GB of storage, expandable storage via microSD slot, plus up to 12 hours of battery life and fast charging. Available for pre-order at $259.99 on Amazon.ca and launches October 30.

Amazon FreeTime Unlimited Service

Also debuting is Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited Service, which offers “unlimited access to popular books, educational apps, videos, and games while giving parents a peace of mind knowing that what their kids are viewing on their device is age-appropriate.” The service includes “hundreds of French language books and videos.”

Amazon says “apps, games, books, videos, and educational content from Sesame Street, Nickelodeon, Disney, and more” are available with FreeTime Unlimited. Digital babysitter anyone?

The service starts at $3.99 CAD per month for Prime members and $5.99 CAD per month for non-Prime members. The service is included for free for one year with Fire Kids Edition Tablets, while it will be available starting October 30, 2019.

All-New Fire HD 10

Amazon has also refreshed its Fire HD 10 tablet with 1080p full HD display, now getting a faster octa-core 2.0 GHz processor, 32GB of storage with expandable microSD slot storage to 512GB, fast charging via USB-C and up to 12 hours of battery life.

The new Fire HD 10 also supports Dolby Atmos, enhanced dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi support, new picture-in-picture, plus “incredible reliability,” which Amazon says is “4x as durable as the latest iPad Pro,” while “costs hundreds of dollars less”.

The new Fire HD 10 remains at $199.99 on Amazon.ca and will debut on October 30.
