Wealthsimple’s $0 Commission Trading App Now Supports RRSPs

Wealthsimple Trade for iOS and Android launched last August, offering Canadians to buy and sell unlimited stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) with $0 commission.

Now, it’s possible to use Wealthsimple Trade to buy and sell registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs). Self-directed Tax-Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs) are also available within the app.

The Toronto-based company explains, “RRSPs have arrived! Now you can lower your taxes and save for your future with a self-directed RRSP on Wealthsimple Trade. For now, full account transfers are not supported but we’re working on it!”

The recent update also fixes a bug for the app’s fingerprint and facial recognition feature, which required users to login even when the latter was enabled (Touch ID and Face ID for iOS users).

Wealthsimple Trade offers unlimited $0 commission trades and makes money on the currency exchange for U.S. trades. A future premium feature will carry fees, noted the company last year.

Those with existing Wealthsimple accounts can start right away with Wealthsimple Trade.
