Family Confesses Exposing Bell Canada Technician to COVID-19

President of Unifor Local 34-O in Ottawa, Jim fling, has told iHeartRadio that a family has admitted to exposing a Bell Canada technician to COVID-19 last week while doing an internet installation. The technician only went inside the house for installation after the customers passed all Coronavirus pre-screening questions.

“Feeling guilty they decided to call Bell Canada and informed them that they exposed one of our technicians to the virus,” Fling told the publication. The technician was back on the road the next day and had done three more jobs before his manager pulled him off the road.

Fling also revealed that it was a son in the family who had tested positive. “Come on people,” he said while noting that it’s not the first time that customers haven’t been honest.

“This is the first positive test, but there’s been people that have told us they weren’t out of the country and then when we finally finish the job, came clean, and said ‘well no, we just got back from Spain three days ago,’” he said. “But on a whole, people have been working with us.”

The worker is in self-isolation with no symptoms at the moment. Follow-ups are also required for the three households he attended to the day after he got exposed.
