iPhone SE (2020) vs iPhone 7 vs iPhone 6s Speed Test [VIDEO]
Just how much faster is Apple’s latest iPhone SE (2020) versus an older phone, such as the iPhone 7? YouTube channel Brandon Butch put the latest second-generation iPhone SE against the older iPhone 7, in a speed test. What are the differences in speed?
The iPhone 7 is from September 2016, with an A10 Fusion chip inside along with 2GB of RAM. The 2020 iPhone SE is 3.5 years old and has the same design, but with the latest A13 Bionic chip and 3GB of RAM inside.
Butch puts both iPhones through a boot up test, app launch speed test, gaming, 4K video export, camera tests, RAM, web browsing and Wi-Fi tests, to fully compare both phones. The 2020 iPhone SE is geared towards those users still using an older iPhone. Is it worth the upgrade?
The iPhone SE just slightly beats the iPhone 7 in opening a variety of apps such as YouTube, Instagram and Amazon, for example. But when it comes to loading games, the iPhone SE wins as it can handle higher frame rates for a better gaming experience with no frame drops like on the iPhone 7. But the iPhone 7 did launch Subway Surfer faster than the iPhone SE.
When it came to the 4K video export test in Luma Fusion, the iPhone 7 beat the iPhone SE by at least 5-10 seconds, surprisingly.
During the RAM management test, which involves relaunching apps, the iPhone SE had to reload some apps while the iPhone 7 did not, with Butch saying it was “super surprising.”
When testing Wi-Fi, the iPhone SE loads web pages faster than the iPhone 7, a noticeable difference. The iPhone SE also saw faster download speeds in a speed benchmark.
In Geekbench scores, the iPhone SE easily smashes the iPhone 7, with single-core and multi-core scores of 1326 and 2370, versus 767 and 1408 for the latter.
