Instagram Announces New Safety Features to Combat Online Bullying

Yesterday, Facebook published the fifth edition of its Community Standards Enforcement Report detailing how it is using latest technologies to find and remove the content that violates its policies. At the same time, the company has also announced some new Instagram features to combat online bullying.

Instagram says that its users on iOS can now manage multiple unwanted interactions at once. Users now have the ability to delete comments in bulk, as well as block or restrict multiple accounts that post negative comments. Simply tap on a comment and then the dotted icon in the top right corner. Select Manage Comments and choose up to 25 comments to delete at once.

Users can now highlight positive comments and will soon be able to pin some comments to set the tone for their account and engage with their community.

We’ve seen that tags and mentions can be used to target or bully others, so we’re rolling out new controls that allow you to manage who can tag or mention you on Instagram. You can choose whether you want everyone, only people you follow or no one to be able to tag or mention you in a comment, caption or Story.
