Apple to Assist Authorized Service Provides With COVID-19-Related Expenses

Apple is helping third-party repair shops out during the pandemic.

According to an internal memo obtained by MacRumors last week, the Cupertino company will assist third-party repair partners worldwide with COVID-19-related expenses, including cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment.

Apple will pay these third-party companies — called Apple Authorized Service Providers — with increased payouts for each completed repair rather than in one lump sum. The subsidy, explains MacRumors, is retroactive and the length it is offered depends on the stay-at-home guidelines present in each country.

Service providers are encouraged to get in touch with an Apple representative for more information.

In related news, Apple appears to be diversifying production outside mainland China as a new report claims the company will be manufacturing its long-rumoured over-the-ear headphones in Vietnam as well as China.
