Mini-LED 16-Inch MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and iMac Pro to Launch in 2021 Claims Analyst
According to GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, Apple is planning to debut at least three high-end devices with Mini-LED displays next year, including a 12.9-inch iPad Pro in Q1, a new 16-inch MacBook Pro in the Q2, and a new 27-inch iMac in the second half of 2021, MacRumors reports.
The analyst’s timeframe coincides with the one previously shared by veteran Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who believes Apple suppliers will begin mass production of components related to these upcoming Mini-LED devices between Q4 of 2020 and Q1 of 2021.
Kuo further claims that a 14-inch MacBook Pro, a 10.2-inch iPad, and a 7.9-inch iPad mini with Mini-LED display is also planned for release by the end of next year.
Switching to Mini-LED displays will also allow Apple to distance itself from the Samsung-dominated OLED display market, according to research firm TrendForce, which also expects a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a Mini-LED display to launch in 2021.
Apple is reportedly investing over $300 million in new Taiwanese factory that is expected to produce Mini-LED and Micro-LED displays for future devices.
Mini-LED displays will also offer improved contrast and dynamic range across all Apple products.
