Apple Canada 2020 Back to School Promo: Free AirPods with Mac or iPad

Apple’s new 2020 Back to School program is offering up a promotion for free AirPods for select Mac or iPad purchases.

“Shop for a Mac or iPad with education pricing and get AirPods on us. You can even upgrade to AirPods Pro. Enjoy discounts on accessories and save 20 per cent on AppleCare+,” explains the Apple website.

The following Mac products are eligible:

• MacBook Air
• MacBook Pro 13-inch
• MacBook Pro 16-inch
• iMac
• iMac Pro

The following iPads are eligible for free AirPods, while accessories also get a discount:

• iPad Pro
• iPad Air
• Apple Pencil (2nd gen)
• Smart Keyboard
• Smart Cover

Apple Canada’s 2020 Back to School promo page promotes AirPods as a way to “type notes with your voice” (good luck with that Siri), plus be able to help listen to music and also participate in group projects.

Apple does let you “upgrade to AirPods Pro” however, which would be paying an extra $110 CAD. You can also pay $50 CAD extra to upgrade to AirPods with Wireless Charging Case (but the regular case is just fine to be honest).

Last year’s Back to School promo from Apple Canada offered up a free pair of Beats, at up to $399 CAD in value. With AirPods (with Charging Case) valued at $219 CAD, it appears last year’s Back to School freebie was a better deal.
