Bell and Waterloo-based BlackBerry have announced a new partnership for enterprise customers and mobile security.

According to both companies, Bell’s new preferred Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) partner will be BlackBerry, with the latter offering its BlackBerry Protect to enterprise customers. The service leverages artificial intelligence to protect from malware, phishing attacks and checks app integrity.

“We could not be more delighted to partner with Bell, BlackBerry’s preferred telecom partner for BlackBerry Protect in Canada and one of the country’s most innovative companies,” said John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO of BlackBerry, in an issued statement. “Together, we will bring the next level of excellence in endpoint security to Canadian enterprise customers across the country.”

According to BlackBerry’s website, BlackBerry Protect “prevents, detects and remediates advanced malicious threats at the device and application levels. It combines the mobile endpoint management capabilities of BlackBerry UEM with BlackBerry AI driven threat protection to get in front of malicious cyberattacks in a Zero Trust environment.”

Mirko Bibic, President and CEO of BCE and Bell Canada, said in a statement, “As organizations of all kinds enable remote work solutions for their teams during COVID-19, it is more
important than ever to remain vigilant about security, including network and mobile device management,” further adding, “Bell is proud to be working with mobile security leader BlackBerry to expand the scale of our solutions for the country’s largest organizations.”
