Q3 MacBook Sales Up 20 Percent Compared to 2019

MacBook sales have increased by 20 percent in the third quarter when compared to the same period in 2019. Taiwan’s diode makers have seen “robust demand” as work-from-home protocols continue, thus increasing the need for notebooks and tablets.

Sales of Apple’s MacBook line have seen a bit of a boom this third quarter. In a report from DigiTimes, sales have increased by 20 percent. “Recent sales of its MacBook devices, including MacBook Pro and MacBook Air lineups, have increased over 20% from a year earlier, with shipments of related products to Japan and Asia Pacific hitting record highs, said the sources, citing data from Apple.”

It was only a few weeks ago that Apple released its report for its third quarter results. In the report, Apple revealed that its Mac products earned $7 billion in net sales, and showed an increase across the board. This is likely due to the massive population transitioning to remote work this year, heightening the need of hardware.

DigiTimes’ report also notes that diode makers have yet to ramp up related shipments on Apple’s next-generation iPhone devices. Although they are “expected to be released soon”, diode makers are still fulfilling shipments for older iPhones. This could give some additional credence to reports that Apple’s upcoming iPhones may not ship until later than expected.

Apple is expected to release four new devices under the iPhone 12 line. However, reports have indicated that the release may be pushed from its typical September release window and into the week of October 19th.
