Apple’s RomaEst Retail Store to Close in October in Preparations for Via del Corso Location

Apple is preparing to permanently close the doors to its RomaEst Apple Store in Italy. On October 17th, 2020, the retail location will be shuttered as the company makes headway on opening up its flagship Via Del Corso in Rome.

As spotted by 9to5Mac, Apple has updated the landing page for the RomaEst Apple Store. The page now informs customers that the store “closes definitively on Saturday 17 October.” The Apple Store at Centro Commerciale RomaEst opened its doors in 2007.

Earlier this year, Apple outlined its plans to open a flagship location in Rome’s historical Via Del Corso shopping district. In January, Apple Retail+People SVP Deirdre O’Brian confirmed the plans to open the store and said: “With this important new store, we will move our teams and activities from RomaEst to the center of Rome, where we will significantly increase our service capacity and offer free, world-class Today at Apple sessions.” The introduction of the new storefront promised employees of the RomaEst location would be offered positions at the nearby locations. 120 additional job openings were also planned to be added.

At the time, there was no exact date given to when the Via Del Corso was said to open. However, a short time after the announcement, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. This delayed any plans to open the new location. Currently, there’s been no update as to when the flagship store will open. However, given the October 17th timeline of the RomaEst store, it may be sometime this fall.
