First iMac with Retina 5K Display Added to Apple’s Vintage Products List

As noted by MacRumors, Apple has updated its vintage products list this week to include the first iMac with a Retina 5K display, among other iMac models. For those who aren’t familiar, Apple’s vintage products are those that have not been sold for more than 5 and less than 7 years ago.

While vintage Apple products were not eligible for repairs at the Genius Bar or at Apple Authorized Service Providers in the past, Apple started offering extended repairs of select vintage products in 2018.

Subject to parts availability, the majority of the following vintage iMac models will remain eligible for service for the next few years:

  • iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)
  • iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)
  • iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014)
  • iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)
  • iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015)

Apple has also renamed its vintage and obsolete products list to “Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty.”
