Popular iOS app Weather Line, one of our favourite apps over the years, has announced it will be shutting down on April 1, 2022 (13 months from now).

The shut down comes after the app was acquired by an unnamed buyer. The team was unable to provide more details (almost sounds like an Apple-esque acquisition?).

“In recent months, we were approached by a buyer. They saw the uniqueness of Weather Line and the strong foundation we’ve built. While we aren’t able to provide further details on their future plans for the app, we hope you can understand, and will look forward to it,” said developers Ryan and Kevin.

Weather Line says “no personal data has been sold” and all active subscriptions “have been extended for free.”

“While this marks the closing of one chapter, I am humbled and honored to have been able to create something people want. Your support and belief over the last nine years has helped me accomplish that, and I’m so incredibly blessed and thankful,” concluded the developers.

Interestingly enough, Weather Line is no longer available for download in the Canadian App Store; it’s unclear when it was removed.
