Roku has announced the launch of its Roku TV Ready licensing program in Canada on Monday.

The certification program allows electronics manufacturers to partner with Roku TV models when it comes to audio devices such as speakers and soundbars, for example. The program means these Roku TV Ready products will be automatically identified by Roku TVs for easy setup and sound controls from the Roku TV remote.

The first brands to support Roku TV Ready in Canada are TCL, Denon and Definitive Technology.

“At Roku we know that great sound enhances the streaming experience, but we’ve also seen firsthand how challenging it can be for consumers to set up and control TV audio devices. We created Roku TV Ready to solve this problem and we are so proud to be able to now introduce it to our Canadian customers,” said Arthur van Rest, VP International, in an emailed statement to iPhone in Canada.

“With the Roku TV OS being the number one TV operating system sold in Canada, this program gives consumer electronics manufacturers access to a large and highly engaged audience when they partner with Roku.”
