Apple has unveiled a new Apple TV 4K powered by the A12 Bionic, plus an all-new Siri remote, finally. The new Apple TV offers high frame rate (60fps) HDR with Dolby Vision, which Apple says is great for streaming sports.

“Apple TV 4K is in a category of its own, leveraging a deep integration of Apple hardware, software, and services that delivers a massive upgrade to any TV for the very best cinematic experience,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, in a statement.

“With the A12 Bionic and the all-new Siri Remote, Apple TV 4K lets customers enjoy their favorite shows, movies, and more in the highest quality, with simple and intuitive controls. And of course, Apple TV 4K offers easy access to Apple services, along with thousands of apps on the App Store for even more entertainment options,” added Borchers.

Apple says videos taken on the iPhone 12 Pro can be viewed at full 60-fps Dolby Vision on the new Apple TV 4K.

Also, Apple TV will now leverage your iPhone to improve your TV’s picture quality, leveraging the light sensor to bring more accurate colours and contrast.

The new Siri Remote now has a dedicated power and mute button. The clickpad control has 5-way navigation and is touch-enabled for gestures. The outer ring supports a new circular gesture. A new Siri button is on the right side. This new remote will work with existing Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.

Also for the first time is AppleCare+ for Apple TV, offering up to three years of coverage.

You can order this on April 30 and it will launch in the second half of May.
