12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro is Not Compatible with Apple’s Original Magic Keyboard

As confirmed by several sources, including the French website iGeneration, Apple’s new 2021 12.9-inch iPad Pro with M1 processor is not compatible with the old Magic Keyboard folio case for the 2018 and 2020 models, The Verge is reporting.

The 2021 12.9-inch iPad Pro is slightly thicker than the 2020 version, possibly be due to the more complex Mini LED screen technology.

This means that if you plan on getting the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro to work with an Apple Magic keyboard case, you’ll need to buy the 2021 Magic Keyboard model as well. The updated 11-inch iPad Pro, however, will still be compatible with the older Magic Keyboard case.

The good news is that the new 2021 Magic Keyboard case is backwards compatible with the previous 2018 and 2020 iterations of the iPad Pro, meaning you’ll also be able to use it with older iPads if you get one.
