Sony Reveals Two New PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller Colours
Sony has officially revealed two new PlayStation 5 DualSense controller colours.
Since the PlayStation 5 launched last November, PlayStation fans have only had one controller colour to choose from. The plain white PS5 DualSense controller comes packed-in with every PS5 console, with fans able to purchase additional white controllers if they need any extras.
Soon, however, PlayStation 5 gamers will have a couple new DualSense controller colours to choose from, as Sony has pulled the curtain back on two controllers coming this June.
First up is Cosmic Red, featuring black detailing and a deep red, almost maroon-coloured outer shell. It features the same dark black as found in the next colour option, called Midnight Black, which offers two subtly different shades partnered with light grey detailing. As with the previous white DualSense, both the D-pad and the buttons are clear plastic with matching colour backing.
“Midnight Black features two subtly different shades of black with light grey detailing to reflect how we view space through the night sky, and Cosmic Red offers a striking black and red design inspired by the unique vivid shades of red found throughout the cosmos,” PlayStation’s Isabelle Tomatis said on the PlayStation Blog.
The new DualSense controller controllers will be available at retailers around the world beginning in June; exact launch dates will vary by region. The standard DualSense controller sells for $70 USD on its own, but the new red one will go for $75. The black controller will be available for $70 USD. They are available to preorder right now through PlayStation’s own store.
“Our goal is to always find designs that will surprise and entice our fans, and these new colors are the result of an extensive selection process. We wanted the new controller colors to complement each other, as well as the original DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console, so we designed the colors around the theme of ‘galaxy’ as it felt like a natural progression from the original PS5 and accessories designs,” PlayStation’s Leo Cardoso said.
