‘Cruella’ Now Available to Stream on Disney Plus in Canada with Premier Access

Disney’s ‘Cruella’ is now available to stream on Disney Plus in Canada via Premier Access.

‘Cruella’ is the latest Disney property to make the shift from theatrical-only run to a simultaneous Disney Plus release. As with other Disney films to release under Premier Access such as ‘Mulan’ and ‘Raya the Last Dragon’, users will require a Disney Plus subscription as well as pay $34.99 CAD to watch the film.

The film stars Emma Stone in this prequel to ‘101 Dalmations’. ‘Cruella’ works as an origin story to ‘101 Dalmations’ villain Cruella de Vil. Stone plays a young de Vil who goes by the name Estella at the time. Set in front of a 1970’s punk-rock-fueled London, Estella is determined to break into the fashion industry. The film depicts what transpires Estella to become the puppy-skinning villain we see in the 1961 animated Disney film.

Joel Fry, Emma Thompson, and Paul Walter Hauser join Stone as part of the cast. ‘I, Tonya’ director Craig Gillespie is at the helm of ‘Cruella’ as director. The film was written by Dana Fox, who wrote ‘How to Be Single’ and Tony McNamara, who penned the screenplay for ‘Ashby’.

Of course, ‘Cruella’ will only be held in Premier Access for Disney’s standard window of time. For those who decide to wait, the film will be available for all Disney Plus subscribers on August 27th, 2021.

A Disney Plus subscription is available in Canada for $11.99 CAD per month or $119.99 per year.
