After announcing Prime Day in Canada for 2021 would be delayed due to COVID-19, Amazon has now officially cancelled the online shopping event.

In an update shared to its Amazon Seller Central portal, the company explained, “based on the impact of COVID-19 in Canada and the importance we place on protecting the health and safety of our employees, we will not hold Prime Day in Canada this year.”

Amazon says they will “work closely” with sellers to help minimize any possible disruptions to their business, adding they look forward to working with them for the Q4 holiday season.

The note also says advertisers that invested for Prime Day 2021 in Canada will be able to cancel their contracts, while those sellers that submitted deals for Prime Day will be cancelled.

COVID-19 in the Peel Region of Ontario affected three Amazon fulfillment centres in Brampton, with Public Health shutting them down to protect employees and families.
