Rogers has acquired Seaside Communications, a telco based in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Seaside offers internet, phone and TV services in the province.

The 46-year old Nova Scotian telco will see its network expand and gain new technology through the sale to Rogers.

“The agreement we have reached with Rogers results in a unique partnership that combines Seaside’s local knowledge and appreciation of our customers’ needs and aspirations, with the much greater resources available from a renowned national operator. It means Seaside’s staff can look forward to a bright future, and our customers will have access to improved and expanded services,” said Loran Tweedie, Chief Executive Officer, Seaside, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada.

Seaside will continue to operate as the same brand and have its local presence remain, while all employees will be offered employment with Rogers.

“We are excited to welcome the Seaside team to the Rogers family and begin our journey together to connect more Nova Scotians to leading technology now, and in the future,” said Matt MacLellan, President, Atlantic Region, Rogers Communications, in a statement.

The acquisition means Seaside customers will soon see faster internet speed options, along with services such as Rogers Ignite TV, with more details expected in the coming months.
