Apple Rolls Out Updated Version of Latest AirTags Firmware

Last week, Apple rolled out a new firmware for AirTags, taking the firmware version to 1.0.291 with a build number of 1A291a, up from the previous 1A287. Today, the company has released a revised version of the firmware update with build number 1A291c (via MacRumors).

As of now, there is no word as to what changes have been included in the latest AirTags firmware. No new features were found following the first release, so it likely focuses on bug fixes and some minor performance improvements.

AirTags receive firmware updates automatically over the air, meaning there is no way to force the update manually. You simply need to put your AirTag in the range of your ‌‌iPhone‌‌ and wait for the firmware to roll out to your device.

To check your current AirTag firmware version through the Find My app, here’s what you need to do:

  • Launch the Find My app.
  • Tap on the Items tab.
  • Tap on the AirTag that you want to check in the list.
  • Now tap on the name of the AirTag to see the current firmware version.
