Twitter Lists ‘Super Follows’ as Individual In-App Purchases for Every Account

Twitter has just rolled out its ‘Super Follows’ premium subscription option, which will allow users to subscribe to accounts they like for a monthly subscription fee in exchange for exclusive content.

However, what’s strange about the rollout is that Twitter has listed each Super Follow subscription as an individual in-app purchase for every account with the feature set up, as pointed out in a tweet by Jane Manchun Wong.

The Super Follows feature allows Twitter users to charge followers and give them access to extra content, such as bonus tweets, access to a community group, a subscription to a newsletter, or a badge indicating your support.

For instance, a user can charge $4.99 per month to offer a series of perks. Twitter says the feature is aimed at allowing creators and publishers to get paid directly by their followers.

U.S. and Canada-based iOS Twitter users will be able to Super Follow accounts starting today, with more users globally seeing the rollout in the coming weeks.
