Some iPhone Users Given Incorrect ‘iPhone Storage Almost Full’ Notification Following iOS 15 Update

Following the introduction of iOS 15 earlier this week, some users have begun being notified that their iPhone storage is reaching capacity. This bug appears to be fairly common as many affected users have taken to social media to show their experiences.

This phenomenon, which first began after iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 launched on Sept 20, was first discovered by MacRumors. Those affected by the error would receive a notification saying “iPhone Storage Almost Full”. When navigating to their Settings menu, it’d be discovered that their device had sufficient space.

The problem has grown so bad that Twitter’s support channels have been flooded by inquiries regarding the bug.

A post on Apple Support’s Community Forum has also been created and has gained traction. The same dialogue and same experiences are exchanged within.

Apple Support has responded to many of its inquiring users. In most cases, Apple Support asks that if tapping the alert makes it go away. After that, the user is encouraged to restart the device. If that does not solve the issue, the user is then told to DM the account.

As of writing, we have not seen one confirmed case where restarting the phone has solved the issue. It would appear as though the bug is something much more complicated to the user.

Apple has yet to make an official statement on the matter. However, testing for iOS 15.1 is already underway. It’s likely we’ll see a resolution in due time.
