What’s New in iOS 15.2 Beta 2 [VIDEO]

Apple released iOS 15.2 beta 2 for developers on Tuesday, along with other second beta builds of its software for developers. A public release for iOS 15.2 beta 2 should be expected within the week.

In a YouTube video published earlier today, Zollotech breaks down all of the new features and changes in iOS 15.2 beta 2.

Here’s a summary of some of the most significant additions and changes in iOS 15.2 beta 2:

• Modem firmware update
• Hide My Email, a new privacy feature baked into iOS 15, is now available directly inside the Mail app. When composing an email, simply tap on From > Hide My Email to enable it.
• Legacy Contact — give a trusted contact access to your phone and the data on it in the event of your death. Available in Settings > Apple ID > Password & Security > Legacy Contact.
• Child Communication Safety, a toned-down implementation of Apple’s controversial CSAM detection system, uses on-device analysis to flag inappropriate images sent to minors (<13 years of age), and gives them the option to message a trusted adult or ignore the warning.
• New Auto Macro option in Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings.
• Settings > Podcasts gets a slightly newer look, along with additional settings.
• New Items That Can Track Me option in the Find My app, which lets users search for unknown Find My devices (like AirTags) in their vicinity that they think might be tracking them.
• New Help Return Lost Items option in the Find My app, which makes it easier for users to return lost Find My devices to their rightful owners.

Beta 2 fixes a known issue with Safari and syncing. Apple noted that there are still a few unresolved issues in iOS 15.2 beta 2, including audio streaming in the Music app resulting in high CPU usage and a toll on battery life, and problems adding vaccination records to Apple Wallet and the Health app.

Battery life on beta 2 is generally good, but some inconsistencies and unusual behaviour have been observed in the hours immediately following the update.
