Apple to Launch AirPods Pro 2 in Late 2022, Said to Feature Updated Design and Chip: Kuo

Apple may be looking at introducing the first upgrade to the AirPod Pro line. In late 2022, Apple is believed to introduce the AirPods Pro 2 which may feature a new design and updated chip.

Word comes by way of MacRumors, which reports Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s latest note. In the report, Kuo states that the AirPods Pro 2 will likely start shipping during the last quarter of 2022. Previous reports pegged a release for sometime in the second half, but Kuo’s latest note closes the window a tad bit more.

It’s been rumoured that the updated AirPods Pro will feature an entirely new design, with inspiration pulled from the Beats Fit Pro. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple tested a model that eliminated the stem. However, it remains to be seen if that design is moving forward. Additionally, speculative features include fitness tracking and new motion sensors. The AirPods Pro 2 is also said to have a new chip built for greater connectivity.

This will be the first major update the AirPods Pro 2 will see since Apple released the product in 2019. While Apple’s entry-level AirPods have been continuously updated, the higher-end models have stayed the same. Recently, the third generation AirPods released and brought minor design updates to the fold.
