Apple Giving Customers Second Chance to Purchase AppleCare+ After Device Repair

Apple has made it even easier for customers to buy AppleCare+.

According to an internal memo obtained by MacRumors, Apple is now offering in-store customers the chance to buy AppleCare+ on both iPhone and Mac following a costly repair.

The system appears designed to offer customers who have not bought AppleCare+ and then fallen foul of a costly accident the chance to get AppleCare+ for any future mishaps. Importantly, this does not negate any of the cost of the initial repair or incident, but would only cover future repairs.

Apple’s memo reportedly says that if a customer gets an iPhone or Mac repaired at an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, they will be eligible to buy AppleCare+ for the fixed device.

Associated terms and conditions specify that the repaired device should have been purchased less than a year ago and should have passed physical inspection and diagnostics after repair.

MacRumors says that this policy is in effect in Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Provider locations “in all countries and regions where AppleCare+ is available,” including Canada.
