Samsung Unveils Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+, Preorders Starting Today

During today’s Samsung Unpacked event, the company unveiled the latest Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+, this year’s flagship smartphones.

As it has become tradition, Samsung is offering an entry-level model and a higher-end. These are both complemented by the premium Galaxy S22 Ultra, also announced at the event. The Galaxy S22 Series will launch on February 25th with pre-orders available today in Canada.

To kick things off, the Galaxy S22 sports a 6.1-inch FHD AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh and up to 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate in Game Mode. The Galaxy S22+ features a 6.6-inch display offering the same display features. Both models offer 8GB memory, expandable up to 256GB.

Samsung is offering advanced outdoor visibility through the Galaxy S22. Vision Booster helps by dynamically mapping the ideal tone of a display and maximizing colour contrast. Samsung has also offered a maximum brightness of 1,750nits on the S22 Series.

Samsung has improved the camera array’s design, opting to support a three-lens setup that features analogous colours to blend in with the smartphone’s body. The array covers a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera, a 50MP Wide camera, and a 10MP Telephoto lens. The devices are made with Armour Aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both sides.

As part of the Unpacked event, Samsung detailed One UI 4. New customization options are available across colour pallets, menus, and wallpaper. Additionally, new GIFs and emojis have been added. Security measures have also been upscaled to include a privacy dashboard to streamline what each app can access.

Samsung has partnered with Google to integrate Google Duo’s co-watching experiences on the Galaxy S22 Series. Users can also seamlessly share a browser with friends to help find a restaurant or other venue. Samsung is also partnering with Microsoft so the Galaxy S22 can link to Windows. Using this feature, users can find direct access to mobile apps on their PC.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will be available for preorder starting at $1,099,99 CAD for the Galaxy S22 and $1,399.99 CAD for the Galaxy S22+. The devices will be available in four colours; Phantom White, Phantom Black, Green, and Pink Gold.
