‘Halo’ TV Series Premieres on Paramount+ in Canada Today

Today, the ‘Halo’ TV series premieres on Paramount+ in Canada with its first episode. The long-awaited series marks the beginning of the live-action adaptation of Xbox’s popular franchise.

The Halo TV series, starring Pablo Shreiber as the iconic Master Chief, establishes its own canon apart from the video game series. The show will largely serve as an entry point for viewers without the baggage of 20 years of established stories and lore. Though, the series will have many familiar elements, characters, and story beats.

Alongside Shreiber, Jen Taylor plays Master Chief’s AI partner Cortana. Taylor has long served as the voice actor for Cortana since Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001. Natasha McElhone stars as scientist Dr. Catherine Halsey. Olive Gray has been cast as Miranda Keyes. Newcomers include Yerin Ha as Quan Ah, Bokeem Woodbine as Soren-066, and Charlie Murphy as Makee.

Fans have been waiting many years to see Halo adapted for live-action. The project was originally pitched as a film. It was later pitched as a live-action series. Steven Spielberg signed on to produce the and it was given a release date of 2015. However, the project was delayed to 2019 when Speilberg Spielberg dropped out and was passed to Rupert Wyatt, who also dropped out. It is now developed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane. Both have writing credits for the series as well. However, Killen and Kane have both decided to step down as showrunners.

The Halo series has been picked up for a second season. David Wiener, who is known for producing ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ will serve as showrunner.

The first season of Halo is set to have a total of nine episodes, concluding on May 19, 2022.
