Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta has finally made its way to Canada with the public release of software version 2022.4.5.20 and FSD beta 10.11.1, which hit Canadian Tesla owners late Saturday evening — reports Tesla North.

Late last month, software version 2022.4.5.4 introduced the ‘Request Full Self-Driving Beta’ button in Canada, indicating that downloads would soon follow suit. Hours prior to that update, Tesla added a ‘Safety Score’ Support page for Canada to its website.
Tesla uses the Safety Score system to ensure that Tesla owners participating in the FSD beta meet certain driving safety metrics and to prioritize the rollout of FSD updates to the most cautious drivers.
The FSD beta download will first roll out to beta testers with a perfect Safety Score of 100, much like it does in the U.S. The prevailing assumption is that FSD beta in Canada will at first only be available to those with Safety Scores of 99 or 100, but we’ll find out what’s available shortly. Some have noted a score of 99 has allowed the FSD beta download as well.
Full Self-Driving is a $10,600 CAD add-on for Autopilot — Tesla’s suite of advanced driver assistance technologies — and is required to become a beta tester. Whether Tesla launches monthly FSD subscriptions in Canada, as it did in the U.S., remains to be seen.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said last week that the FSD beta would launch in Canada “next week,” and it looks like his timeline stood true this time around. The Canadian release is the first expansion of the beta outside the U.S.
Canada has been “next” in line for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving beta since November 2020, but the release was pushed back repeatedly. Back in December 2020, Musk said that the beta would cross the border into the Great White North “very soon.”
The release was delayed yet again in April of last year, but the FSD beta made its way to a very limited number of Canadian Tesla owners for closed testing in October. According to Musk, Tesla had around 60 cars testing FSD beta internally in Canada before the ‘Request Full Self-Driving Beta’ button became available last month.
