Xplornet announced on Monday it has acquired the Internet business of Winnipeg-based Full Throttle Networks.
Full Throttle Networks provides fixed broadband internet to over 1,600 homes and businesses in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
According to Xplornet, these newly acquired internet customers will soon “benefit from Xplornet’s fibre-to-the-premise and 5G fixed wireless rollout plans in the province of Manitoba.” The upgrades will soon offer up to 100 Mbps download and up to 10 Mbps upload speeds, plus 1 Gbps in fibre areas, when complete.
“The acquisition of Full Throttle Networks supports our ambitious plan to offer more Manitobans access to the latest network technologies and fastest speeds,” said Bill Macdonald, Executive Vice President, Business Development, Xplornet Communications Inc., in a statement. “We’re eager to bring the vast benefits of high-speed Internet connectivity to even more Manitobans so they can connect to what matters.”

Last week, Xplornet spent $17 million to buy Annapolis County’s internet infrastructure, as the company continues to make acquisitions.
Xplornet has fibre-to-the-home projects currently underway in Manitoba, along with Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
