Aeroplan Points Can Now Be Converted to Starbucks Reward Stars

CleanShot 2022 04 27 at 11 26 58

Starbucks announced on Wednesday it’s now possible to have your Aeroplan points converted to Starbucks Stars, as of today.

The coffee chain told iPhone in Canada the conversion results in 1,000 Aeroplan points for 200 Starbucks Rewards Stars, up to a max of 10,000 Aeroplan points in one transaction.

Once an Aeroplan member’s account is linked to a Starbucks account, converting Aeroplan points can take place on the web or inside the Air Canada mobile app. Aeroplan members can link their accounts by visiting aircanada.com/starbucks. You’ll then sign into your Aeroplan account, then be redirected to sign in to your Starbucks account, to complete the linking of both.

The latest update builds on the 2021 partnership between Starbucks and Aeroplan, with members of the latter able to link their accounts and earn points on digital Starbucks Card reloads. Loading $50 to $74.99 earns 75 Aeroplan points, while loading $75 or more results in 150 Aeroplan points.

When Aeroplan members make qualifying purchases with their Starbucks card, they’ll still earn Reward Stars on top of the Aeroplan points bonus, resulting in double-dipping.

200 SB points get about $10 worth of food and drink so an effective redemption rate of about $0.01 per point, is not very good value.

1cpp isn’t great but not the worst either. I wouldn’t do it but I can see some will.

Starbucks was never that good but I feel the quality has even further plummeted in the last couple years. I even cut up and threw away my gold card, can’t be bothered with them anymore.
