State-of-the-Art ‘Telus Sky’ Headquarters Officially Opens in Calgary
Telus Sky, one of the most technologically innovative buildings in North America, has officially opened its doors today in Calgary, Alberta. The 60-story skyscraper bridges sustainability with urban life, and serves as the new headquarters of Telus.
This impressive landmark brings 750,000 square feet of office and retail space including 326 rental homes to Calgary’s downtown core. Built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum standards, Telus Sky will be home to more than 1,600 local Telus team members.
The building’s specialized windows, stormwater management, and thermal energy systems are integrated into the design to reduce building energy use by 35% compared to similar-sized developments and municipal water demand by 70%.
The artwork displayed on each floor of Telus Sky celebrates contemporary Canadian and Indigenous artists from across Canada.
“Our $400 million development continues our legacy of making powerful contributions to advance the economic strength and social vitality of both the city of Calgary and the province of Alberta,” said Darren Entwistle, Telus President, and CEO.
“The completion of l Sky is a pivotal moment in the history of Calgary,” said Mayor Jyoti Gondek. “This landmark building literally serves as a beacon of light as Calgary continues to reinvent its downtown to reflect the City’s aspirations for a dynamic, transformative, and sustainable future.”
Throughout the project’s development over the last nine years, Telus Sky supported the local economy by creating more than 1,000 jobs.
