The Royal Bank of Canada announced on Wednesday it will appoint Bell CEO Mirko Bibic to its board of directors, starting August 1, 2022. Bibic will join RBC’s Risk and Governance Committees, said the bank in a press release.

Bibic has been president and CEO of Bell since January 2020 and has worked at the company for 19 years.

“We are delighted to welcome Mirko to RBC’s Board of Directors. A highly accomplished executive, he brings deep strategic, operational, governance, and risk experience across a wide range of commercial and consumer portfolios in the communications sector,” said Kathleen Taylor, Chair of the Board, RBC, in a statement.

“Mirko’s leadership reflects his deep commitment to creating value for clients, communities, employees, and shareholders. His strategic vision and insights will complement the bench strength of the board as we guide RBC in delivering on its Purpose and achieving its strategic priorities,” added Taylor.

Bibic is also on the board of BCE Inc., Bell Canada, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. and the Business Council of Canada.

This is what happens when you let undesirables from one industry’s oligopoly touch the peepees of the undesirables from another industry’s oligopoly.

Ladies and gents, I think we’ve got ourselves a new disease.
