How to Watch Summer Game Fest and What to Expect

The annual Summer Game Fest live event is happening on Friday, June 7. Held live in person at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles, Summer Game Fest will also be live-streamed to those at home. Considered one of the biggest gaming events of the year, it promises to be packed with announcements and updates.

Each year, Summer Game Fest kicks off a week of live-stream conferences and keynotes from various publishers and studios. From unannounced AAA games, indies, and updates to beloved games, Summer Game Fest has it all. Once again, the event is organized and hosted by Geoff Keighley.

This year’s Summer Game Fest has many partners including 2K, Annapurna Interactive, EA, PlayStation, Sega, etc. Additionally, Xbox and Ubisoft are also official partners though both are hosting their own subsequent events, including the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th and Ubisoft Forward on June 10th.

In a recent Q&A, Keighley noted that the show will run for roughly two hours long. It will then be followed by Day of the Devs and the Devolver Direct. In previous years, the event has been accompanied by musical acts. However, Keighley states that the show will focus on games and trailers, leaving the musical acts for The Game Awards 2024 later this year.

Keighley also edited a trailer, drumming up excitement for Summer Game Fest. Featuring a series of cinematics from games, the trailer is a celebration of gaming in 2024 and is not necessarily representative of what’ll be shown at the event.

Based on social media updates, it appears as though Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment may be primed to show off the game’s first piece of paid DLC. After renaming its X (formally Twitter) account ‘Poison Pill Entertainment,’ the Alan Wake 2 account then published a post reading, “Join the percolation on June 7th… in Night Springs.” Night Springs is not only the name of a location in the Alan Wake universe but is also rumoured to be the name of the first piece of DLC.

This year’s event will feature Katsura Hashino and Shigenori Soejima from Atlus. It’s likely the famed developers will come on stage to discuss the upcoming Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is due to be released on October 11 across PlayStation 4. PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

Fresh off the heels of PlayStation’s State of Play, Capcom will debut another look at Monster Hunter Wilds during the showcase. Executive director and art director Kaname Fujioka and director Yuya Tokuda will also be in attendance.

Keighley has also confirmed that Blumhouse Games’ new horror title will be revealed. Additionally, the world premiere of Slitterhead‘s gameplay will also be in attendance. The game hails from Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama.

Summer Game Fest is live streaming worldwide across the official YouTube channel, Twitch, TikTok, and on X (formally Twitter). Afterwards, Day of the Devs will be held, highlighting a handful of indie games.

Stay tuned as we’ll have more coming from Summer Game Fest and this weekend’s events.
