Apple Commits $2.5 Billion to Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund to Help Create Affordable Housing

Apple has announced its partnership with the San Francisco Housing Accelerator Fund, Sobrato Philanthropies, and Destination: Home. In a commitment to address the housing crisis across California, Apple is investing $2.5 billion and helping launch the new Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund.
The Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund is said to be making “favourable loans to advance affordable housing development” across California. With an initial $50 million investment, the Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund is supporting four projects in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. This includes the construction of 400 homes by 2026.
The fund is said to be removing barriers that other affordable housing developers run into. The Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund is committing to constructing “high-quality units” at a faster rate and for “significantly” less than the current industry average.
“We believe everyone deserves a place to call home, and we’re proud that Apple’s $2.5 billion initiative is supporting more affordable housing options across the state,” Kristina Raspe, Apple’s vice president of Global Real Estate and Facilities, says in a press release. “Increasing access to safe and affordable housing is essential for thriving communities here, and we’re excited to help launch the Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund as part of our long-term commitment to our home state.”
The Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund will be breaking ground on its first construction project next week. Located in San Francisco’s Mission District, the project will provide 145 units of permanent supportive housing for seniors who are experiencing or may be at immediate risk of experiencing homelessness. The second project will begin in Santa Cruz in late 2024.
On top of its commitment to the Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund, Apple is allocating over $1.6 billion to support affordable housing initiatives in California. This is expected to assist over 60,000 residents in California. With Apple’s support more than 10,000 units across 90 developments statewide can build and preserve affordable housing. It’s claimed Apple has helped over 35,000 Bay Area residents who were at risk of losing their homes remain sheltered. The company is also said to have helped 2,500 first-time buyers finance their homes.
Apple is also working with Housing Trust Silicon Valley, California Housing Finance Agency, United Way of Greater Los Angeles and other developers statewide.

Here's an idea. Decrease the price of your products. If you have 2.5 billion to give to anything, you have too much money and should decrease the price of your products.
When companies give away their profits to show how great they are, they are charging too much.
