Apple Intelligence Not Available in Canada? Here’s the Workaround

Today, Apple released the first betas of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1, which include the first Apple Intelligence features.
But many Canadians with an iPhone 15 Pro or M1 or newer Mac or iPad are seeing the message, “Apple Intelligence is not currently available in your country or region,” meaning the AI features aren’t available in Canada yet.
In order to bypass this restriction, all you need to do is change your region to the United States, and that should let you get on the Apple Intelligence waitlist and then start the download. How to do this? Head over to Settings > General > Language & Region and select United States. The same goes for your device language and Siri Language set to US English.
After you change this setting, you need to restart your iPhone, iPad or Mac for the change to fully kick into effect.
Apple’s iOS 18.1 beta release notes are as follows, which state this:
iOS 18.1 beta is an early preview of an update to iOS 18 that will be available later this fall. This beta introduces an initial set of features powered by Apple Intelligence.
To try the Apple Intelligence beta, join the waitlist in Settings and you will be notified as soon as it is ready for your device. Both device language and Siri language must be set to US English, and device region must be set to United States.
Apple Intelligence is available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Apple Intelligence is not currently available in the EU or China.
Let us know if the above settings change let you download and install Apple Intelligence in Canada (or outside of the US). You should likely install iOS 18.1 beta on a second device so it doesn’t mess up any critical apps or services you have or need to use.

Switching worked for me. I've already been granted access to Apple Intelligence too. Not a long wait
How long of a wait? I just switched and I’m waiting
Not very impressed for what I've just seen in videos. It not feel very different from what I've already seen with chat GPT. Plus, as usual, Apple thinks all the world speak one language and will only support english for a long time until it finally support other language "sometimes next year". So, no hype at all for me on this one.
…..there are reasons why they call this a beta……
You are aware this is a dev beta and not public beta or even RC?
And you’re aware they already said this feature will only be in english until 2025 at the earliest and will only support other language “sometime next year”? This fact is not a beta, and for the Apple Intelligence itself, it’s not very different from what I’ve seen from chat GPT or copilot so far. Plus, the competition already support other languages. Its just a fact that Apple is behind the rest on this one.
Lot of AI features announced by Apple not included in this beta such as:
Image Playground
Genmoji
Image Wand

EU person here: changing all the settings didn't work for me 🙁
Same thing here. Supposedly this has worked for a couple of people, but not for me. iPad Pro M4.
