Canada’s iconic music superstar, Céline Dion, had a magnificent comeback performance of “L’Hymne à l’amour” from atop the Eiffel Tower at the 2024 Olympic opening ceremonies in Paris.

This performance has reignited global interest in her music, according to the latest stats shared by Spotify with iPhone in Canada. Following the event, Spotify says there was a huge surge in streams for the iconic singer.

“L’Hymne à l’amour,” originally by Edith Piaf, saw a 317% increase in daily streams worldwide the day after Dion’s performance, including a 285% rise in France. Dion’s entire music catalogue saw a 36% increase in global streams, with a 64% jump in France. Spotify shows Dion has over 20 million monthly listeners.

The top five countries streaming Dion’s music in the past month on Spotify are:

  • United States
  • France
  • United Kingdom
  • Philippines
  • Canada

Dion has been out of the spotlight for four years, due to a serious health condition, Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), which she revealed 1.5 years ago. You can see her talk more about the condition in her documentary, “I am Celine Dion” on Prime Video, which debuted last month, and has since become the streaming service’s most popular documentary ever.
