PlayStation’s Limited Edition Astro Bot DualSense Controller Available for Preorder

PlayStation is launching the preorders for its new Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller. Ahead of the PlayStation 5 console launch of the game, fans can preorder this adorably themed controller.

Starting today at 10AM ET/7AM PT, preorders for the Astro Bot Limited Edition controller will be available through select retailers for $99.99 in Canada. The controller then ships on September 6th, alongside the launch of the Astro Bot game.

The controller is heavily inspired by the titular character of Team Asobi’s upcoming Astro Bot 3D platformer. The Astro Bot controller features Astro’s blue accents on the handles and face buttons of the controller. Small carvings and sci-fi touches can also be seen across the face of the controller. On the DualSense’s touchpad, two bright blue eyes, representing Astro’s playful look are also featured.

PlayStation will be releasing Astro Bot, exclusively on PlayStation 5. The game features over 50 planets to explore. Astro will also have new powerups and tons of PlayStation-inspired bots to rescue along the way. The game heavily features DualSense controller integrations, including the subtle haptics of Astro running.

Earlier this summer, we spoke to Team Asobi’s Creative Director Nicolas Doucet. During the interview, Doucet touched on how intregal the DualSense controller is to Astro Bot. “The DualSense informs what sort of gameplay we do,” Doucet says. “The gameplay that informs what sort of like associated interactions we need, including enemies, props, gimmicks or even some wildlife or side characters.”

With an emphasis on using DualSense integrations, it’s a delight to see PlayStation leverage Astro Bot’s design for a Limited Edition controller. It will surely become a fan favourite, adopted by eager players.

Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller is available on GameStop, Best Buy, and Amazon.
