Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has released Grok-2 in Beta, the company’s AI chatbot.

This release includes new models: Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini, both of which are now available for testing on X (and working in Canada). These models have significant advancements over the previous Grok-1.5, with notable improvements in areas like chat interaction, coding assistance, and complex reasoning.

According to xAI, Grok-2 has already demonstrated superior performance on the LMSYS leaderboard, surpassing well-known models such as GPT-4-Turbo and Claude 3.5 Sonnet.

In addition to their availability on X, Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini will be accessible to developers through an enterprise API later this month. This API is designed for global use, with features like multi-region deployment, enhanced security, and detailed analytics.

Also, for users on X, there will be new AI-driven features powered by Grok-2, including improved search, better insights from X posts, and more intuitive reply functions. You can already see this in some of the news and trending summaries.

Here’s what Grok 2 mini (beta) looks like on X for those that have a subscription on Premium and Premium+. It gives suggestions similar to ChatGPT and can also generate images:
